Cub Scout Camping

Camping takes your scout on exciting adventures into the natural world. They’ll learn to live with others in the out-of-doors. They’ll learn to be a good citizen of the outdoors.

Camping is fun, and it’s good for your mind, body, and spirit. It helps your scouts learn to rely on themselves—on their own skills and knowledge. When a Cub Scout goes camping, they get skills they will learn and use, later, as a Boy Scout.

There are several outdoor camping activites avaliable to our pack.

Family Camp Outs
The Pack hosts a spring and fall Family Camp Out.

  • Description: A camp out for Pack 442 and family members.  Families may arrive on Friday night.  Rank activities take place on Saturday, as well as a campfire and show to round out the Saturday activities. A church service is held on Sunday morning before adjourning for the weekend.

  • Location: Different locations are used for Pack campouts, generally they are held at Texas State Parks.
  • Duration: Weekend (Fri to Sun) although attendance on Saturday to take part in rank activities is acceptable.
  • Cost: Depends on the camping location ($25 to $35 is typical)
  • Attendance: Family camping is encouraged

Day Camps
Day camp lasts for one day to five days. It’s for Tiger Cubs, Cub Scouts, and Webelos Scouts. Day camps are held during the day or early evening. Campers do not stay overnight.  The Norther Star districts host an annual Cub Camp during the summer and Pack 442 scouts are encouraged to attend.  Day Camps provide a lot of fun activities for Scouts working on their ranks.

Rank Overnighters
Each year ranks schedule an overnight trip to various locations in the area.  These include the Battleship Texas, Space Center Houston, etc.  These provide an exciting night for the scouts while earning special awards.  Each year the scouts go to a diffrent place and these are planned by your rank leaders.

Webelos II Campout
Webelos II scouts must camp with a Boy Scout troop to earn the Arrow of Light award. This gives the Cub Scouts to experience camping with a Boy Scout troop. Cub Scout Pack 442 provides the opportunity to camp with both Troop 442 and Troop 445; both Friendswood Boy Scout troops.
