Open House

Scouting is a fun and exciting way for boys to make friends, learn skills and develop strong character. To help non-Scouting families understand what Scouting is all about, Pack 442 will hold a Scouting Open House. There will be activities staffed by Den representatives for families to participate in.  Details are below.

Saturday, May 5th 10am – 1pm
Friendswood United Methodist Church Gym
All boys entering 1st-5th grade in Fall 2012 are welcome!

Camp Bovay Summer Resident Camp– Sam Houston Area Council

Cub Scout Resident camp is a three-night campout for Scouts entering 2nd – 5th grade the following school year. From Scout skills to rank advancements, these camps are full of fun and learning. Scouts attending resident camp are also encouraged to register for District Day Camp as the advancements offered at Resident Camp add to those offered at Day Camp. Resident include activities such as: seeking treasure in the Lost Mine, archaeological quest at the Dinosaur Dig, high speed pedal action at the BMX Bike Track, Robin Hood Style adventure at the Archery Range, marksmanship at Fort Bluebell’s BB Gun Range, action at the K.S. “Bud” Adams Sports Field, Pow Wow at the Indian Village, exploring camp at the Nature Center, and splashing in the water at the David Weekley Family Water Park.

Scout Sunday

On Sunday February 12, 2012, FUMC is celebrating Scout Sunday.  We have arranged for specific responsibilities and recognition for all Scouts on this day.  If you would like for you Scout to participate, please let , Dennis Cruise or Jay Estes know and also which service we can expect our Scout to participate.  Up to 16 Scouts are needed at each service and more may be utilized.  Have your Scout check in with Dennis or Jay near the Usher room so their service time can be recorded, and assignments made.

Arrow of Light Ceremony

On Sunday, February 26, our Webelos 2 Patrols will be receiving their Arrow of Light Awards and Crossing Over into Boy Scouts from Cub Scouting.  The Arrow of Light is the highest Award in Cub Scouting and is the only rank that a Cub Scout can wear on their Boy Scout Uniform.

The Ceremony will be from 2pm-4pm at Polly Ranch Park in Friendswood.  The local Boy Scout Order of the Arrow Chapter will be performing the Ceremony.  The ceremony will be outside—so dress appropriately.  All members of the Pack are invited (full uniform, please).  In the event of inclement weather, an airplane hangar will serve as our backup.Arrow of Light Image
Each of the boys who earned the Arrow of Light will receive a Native American arrow with beaded thongs hanging that represent their ranks and awards earned though Cub Scouting.  Leaders—I have received your bead kits.  They will be distributed during the Leaders’ meeting.
Pack 442 is proud of the achievement and commitment of our boys, especially those who have worked so diligently to earn the Arrow of Light.
More information on this event will be coming as the date approaches.

The goals of the website are to provide a central place for Pack  442 Information, as well as showcase pack 442 activities to people looking for Cub Scouting in Friendswood.

The new website maintains the old style, and all the old content.  However, the new format provides some Key Improvements

  • Blog format with better layout and navigation.
  • Searchable posts and categories to find what you are looking for.
  • Integration with Facebook and Twitter for sharing and access to posts.
  • New Upcoming Events section highlighting upcoming pack activities.
  • Better information for Leaders including a link to Packmaster Web access.

Blue and Gold Banquet Registration

Blue and GoldIt’s that time again! Time to celebrate Scouting with the Blue and Gold Banquet!

Money for the banquet will be collected at the January Pack Meeting (Tues, January 17th). All reservations and money must be received by February 10th.

Space Derby Today

Space Derby is today at FUMC Gym.  SIgn in begins at 8:30am and races start at 9:00am.

Every scout will get to race at least two rounds.

1st, 2nd, 3rd , 4th and 5th Place Trophies.

Also Design Category awards:
“Scout Theme”, “Most Patriotic”, “Space Theme”, “Most Creative” & “Funniest”

Pray Program Registration

Registration for the 2011 Pray Program is open.  The program offers two tracks.

God and Me track for Tigers, Wolves, and Bears.

God and Family track for Web I and Web IIs.
